Branding by Blogging

self-branding

I remember an article I read on Computer Arts Magazine, which said,  for graphic designers, the No.1 important thing is to have a personal website through which others can see their talent. Actually it is true for all designers, no matter what specific area their expertise resides in. But when everybody gets smarter, it’s no longer enough for a designer to stand out from the crowd, not to mention that during recession designers as a whole are having a hard time.

Opportunity doesn’t come if you don’t fight for it. Good designer know not only how to do the design, but also how to sell it. Portfolio speaks, but how can yours speak louder in a sea of online portfolios? And you may even lack a memorable and outstanding name, say, you are just one of the 2,478,230 johnsons worldwide. Then, who are you? What is your ture identity as a designer?

Here comes Blog, and it’s all about the self-branding strategy. In a world where the consumer product market is so saturated and most products are essentially the same, the only proven way to get ahead is by branding, and people are involved in this process as well as products. To differentiate, you have to be a BRAND. DesignSojourn had an insightful article on how to prepare you step by step to be a brand and create a 360 degree experience. So, what are we waiting for?
